My first thought about creating a blog is that creating one is easy. I hope that the follow up work follows suit. I am still a little hazy about how people will find and post on my blog and how I will do the same on others, but I am just going to keep reading and plugging away.
As I was reading through the assigned reading for this week, I thought of many different ways I could use blogging in my classes as a high school social studies teacher. I have used them in the past, but thought of great new ways to use it. I often use essential questions to teach big concepts. I thought it would be a great idea to use blogs to get the students discussing the "answers" to the essential questions. Since they are often opinion based questions and have no right answers, they seem to be perfect lead ins to a great HOT blog.
ReplyDeleteKristen-That sounds like a great idea on how to use a blog in your classroom. Since I also teach social studies, having an essential question posted would be a great starter for different units.
ReplyDeleteooh! good idea with the essential questions! I would use it as answers to the objectives for the assignment or the chapter reading! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, we have found you!
ReplyDeleteKristen - great idea on blogging about essential questions in the social studies units. I would think that blogging would provide opportunities for your students to respectfully acknowledge other student opinions and perhaps help them develop a sound opinion of their own! Sounds like this could be an interactive and "fun" activity.

I like the idea of using blogs to answer "big idea" questions. Many of them are opinion based and it helps when students can type and organize their thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI think the blogging idea of the questions is a great idea. Each student can post thier opinion and discuss them. This would be easier than as we do with the discussion pages. It can be a lot quicker and easier for them to work through.
